Frequently
Asked Questions
How much do you charge?
*
Our rates are extremely reasonable. We work either by
the project or on retainer. Before you commit, Hired
Gun gives you a detailed quote for your project based
on the number of hours we estimate it will require.
Once we agree on a total price and review and sign a
contract, Hired Gun delivers your project—on time—for
that price.
For
new clients, we require a 1/2 up-front deposit. Our
clients feel they receive excellent value for their
money, but the best way to get a quote for your specific
project is to contact us for a free, no-obligation estimate.
We will respond within 1 business day.
What kind of work do you
handle? *
We create a wide variety of writing needs for businesses,
nonprofit organizations, government agencies and others.
This includes b2b marketing materials, white papers,
case studies, internal company communications, grants,
fundraising materials, feature articles, public relations,
audio and video scripts, social media marketing and
more. See our services
for more information.
We
are specially qualified to write for the healthcare
industry. Our team also includes SEO experts and Web
writers. We are pioneers in creating search engine optimized
b2b communications, public relations, fundraising campaigns
and other content to give our clients maximum milage
for their materials.
I've never hired a writer
before. How does it work?
*
We make the process as quick and pleasant as possible. First, you tell us your project needs and we provide you with a detailed estimate. Once we decide we’re right for each other we will immediately send you a contract, which you will have the option of revising. The contract protects both our interests and secures your rights to the work we create for you.
Next, we’ll schedule a consultation, either over the phone or in person, to discuss your project in detail. If there are other people involved, Hired Gun will ask to speak with your entire team. We'll discuss what the project entails and what background materials we’ll need. We will ask a lot of questions. We will collect any relevant materials from you. And then we'll get to work. Our goal is to hit the mark with the first draft. However, if you require revisions our team will discuss your input with you and provide two rounds of revisions at no extra cost. Then, if needed, we can work with your staff to answer any additional questions.
How long are your turnaround times?
*
It depends on the scope of your project and your
deadlines. We carefully manage our schedule to allow
us to accommodate quick turnaround times. For non-retainer clients, we reserve
the right to charge additional "rush fees"
of at least 25% of the total project cost for jobs with
deadlines of 48 hours or less. But the bottom line is:
Once we agree on a deadline, Hired Gun meets it. End
of story.
Does it matter if we live in different parts of the country?
*
We serve clients in all parts of the country, and the
world, whom we never meet face-to-face. Because we are
so accessible and attentive, our clients have said they
feel like our office is right across town.
What's the difference
between hiring Hired Gun Writing and hiring a big agency?
*
Simple. Hired Gun Writing is way cheaper than a large
agency. Agencies—advertising or public relations—have
high overhead. They offer more than just writing services,
and in fact they often outsource their own writing needs
to companies like Hired Gun. (We love getting jobs from
agencies because we do the same quality work and get
paid more for it—because the client is paying the agency
more.) For many projects, it's simply unnecessary to
employ an entire agency. For copy-driven projects (like
b2b marketing materials, internal documents, articles,
Web content, reports, etc.) you can save a great deal
by working with Hired Gun directly. And your experience
will likely be better, because we are so easy to work
with.
Do I have to sign a contract?
*
You should insist on it. You enter into an agreement with a writer expecting a certain level of quality and commitment. We want to protect our interests as well, but from the client’s perspective a contract is a great opportunity for you to outline exactly what you expect to get for your money. It also prevents any disagreements over kill fees, and it establishes your full legal rights to the work we create for you. We will send you an initial contract,
and then welcome your additions and/or revisions.
Do you work on retainer?
*
Yes. If you have ongoing writing needs, you may hire Hired Gun on advance retainer. Retained clients receive top priority placement—a turnaround of 1 business day or less, depending on project size—and a 20% discount. The retainer may be applied to any project, big or small.
Please contact us for more information.
What if I need to cancel a project already in process?
*
No hard feelings. You'll be charged only for the work
that's been completed through the time of cancellation.
Do you provide graphic
design services?
*
For your one-stop-shopping convenience, we routinely
collaborate with experienced graphic designers to construct
brochures, direct mail, and other materials, if desired.
If you have your own technical team, we can work with
them to create your projects.
What if I think your final product is an insult to the
English language and would rather swallow it whole than
attach my company name to it?
*
We probably would not ask you to provide a reference.
In all seriousness, this has never happened. If it ever
does, we will work it out with the client on a case-by-case
basis.
